The Wizard of Oz

On the way to the wizard’s city, they meet a scarecrow, who has no brain and wants to ask the wizard of Oz for brains. After that, they meet the tin man and the cowardly lion, who want to ask the wizard of Oz for help, too. The cowardly lion let his friends sit on his back to jump across a big river. The scarecrow has a great idea to across another bigger river. And when the friends are hungry, the tin man feels sorry for killing an animal.

Finally, the friends get to the Emerald City where the wizard lives. They meet the wizard one by one, and they see the different wizard. Dorothy sees a big head, the scarecrow sees a beautiful woman, the Tin Man sees a big animal with two heads, and the cowardly lion sees a ball of fire. The wizard says if they kill the bad witch of the West, he will help them.

When the bad witch of the West knows that Dorothy and her friends want to kill her, she sends the magic monkeys to kill them. But she wants Dorothy’s magic red shoes, so she tells the magic monkeys to bring Dorothy back to her house. Fortunately, Dorothy finds a way to kill the witch of the West. She throws some water at the witch, and the witch disappears. She puts on the witch’s hat, and asks the magic monkeys for helping her friends to get their original looks back and carrying them back to the Emerald City.

Dorothy and her friends go back to the Emerald City happily, but when they find out that the wizard is an old man from Kansas and doesn’t know any true magic, they all get mad at him. The old man from Kansas is afraid of them so he promises to help the friend of their wishes. He takes a bottle with BRAINS on it in big green letters, and puts the brains in the scarecrow’s head. The wizard knows that the scarecrow doesn’t need brains, because the scarecrow understands things and is clever enough to find out an idea to across a big river. The wizard gives the Tin Man a small red heart. He thinks himself, “The Tin Man has a heart before. He feels sorry for killing an animal.”

The wizard takes a bottle with BE BRAVE on it and let the cowardly lion drink it. But he knows the cowardly lion is brave. The cowardly lion jumped across a big river before.

Dorothy’s friends are all happy, but Dorothy isn’t. The old man from Kansas has no idea to help Dorothy back to her home, but he tells Dorothy to ask the witch of the South for help. Dorothy calls the magic monkeys to bring the witch of the South to the Emerald City. The witch of the South tells Dorothy to use the magic red shoes. Then Dorothy picks up Toto and closes her eyes. “East, west-home’s best,” she says and jumps.

Dorothy opens her eyes. She finds out that she is home. She runs to Aunt Em and Uncle Henry happily.

Friendship In The Ocean

Friendship In The Ocean

Title: Friendship In The Ocean

I’m a junior high school student. My name is Ann and I come from a rich family. One day, I invited my friends—Sophia, Mary, and Peggy to travel on a big ship. On the ship, I said, “Let’s go fishing, shall we? I love fishing very much.” “Wow! It will be my first fishing. Let’s go right away. ” the others said. Then we went onto a small boat and rowed away.

Sophia rowed the boat and we talked happily. I said, “I bet I will get the most fish.” Peggy said, “I won’t lose.” Mary reminded, “Peggy, you have never gone fishing before, right?” We all laughed. We talked for a long time. Sophia, rowing all the time while we were talking, was very tired. She asked, “May I take a rest? I’m tired out. Can I eat some snacks?” Suddenly, Mary cried out! “Look! Oh, no! We’ve rowed too far away from our ship! Sophia, you are really good at rowing.” Sophia said proudly, “Of course. I get a lot of energy from the snacks.” Mary said anxiously, “Where are you going to row to right now, Sophia ? I have to tell you that I can’t see where the ship is.” “Where are we now? Oh,no!” I said. Then we found out we were lost in the ocean and the worst thing was that none of us had brought the cellphone. “Oh, my goodness! We’re in big trouble.” Mary said.

Peggy shouted, “I don’t want to die. I’m so pretty and I want to have a happy life. It’s all you fault, Ann. If you didn’t invite us to go fishing with you, we wouldn’t be in such a trouble.” Sophia said with a mouth of snacks, “ Yes, it’s your fault. I’m thirsty and I don’t have any water to drink.” I said angrily, “How can you blame the accident on me?” “I’m just telling the truth.” Peggy said, eating Sophia’s snacks. Sophia said, “How can you eat my snacks, Peggy? They’re my favorite food. They’re very important to me. I don’t want to share with you.” Peggy was unhappy and said, “You are so stingy, Sophia. We are friends, aren’t we? I don’ like you any more.”

Mary said, “Come on! It’s meaningless to quarrel about the snacks and the cause of our trouble now. The most important things between friends are to share, respect, and tolerate. We shouldn’t blame the accident on Ann. It’s unfair to Ann. We all agreed with that suggestion, didn’t we? We are on the same boat and we should help one another instead of quarrelling.” Peggy said, “You are right. We should share everything including Sophia’s snacks, right?” Mary said, “No, you should respect Sophia’s decision. If she doesn’t want to share her snacks with you, you can’t force her.” Peggy said, “I see.”

“All we have to do now is find a way to save ourselves. I think it’s important to let other people know where we are.” Mary said. “I got it! I have a firecracker which can make a loud sound. I think it will work.” So I started to light the firecracker. “Bang!!” went a loud noise. However, the other girls didn’t think it was a good idea at all. Mary said, “Do you think your firecracker can make a ship appear? Don’t be silly!” All of a sudden, there came a ship, but the people on the ship didn’t see us. We were very excited and nervous. “How can we be seen?” I said. At the same time, Peggy took out her mirror and combed her hair. I saw her mirror shining because of the reflection of the sun. Then I got a good idea! “Quick! Everyone, take out your mirror and wave your mirror!” “Yes, what a great idea!” Mary said happily. Mary, Sophia, Peggy and I raised our mirrors, which made a bright light, and the people on the ship saw us at last.

Fortunately, we were saved. Everybody was very happy. Captain Lester welcomed us and gave us some food and water. Sophia was happy about the food and the water. We had a delicious dinner on the ship.

After this adventure, Sophia realized that she should share more with friends. Peggy learned to respect other people. Mary learned that actions speak louder than words. And I? I had an unforgettable experience and knew the value of friendship.

My Best Vacation

My Best Vacation

My Best Vacation
Hello, everyone. My name is Amy. I’m going to tell you about my best vacation. Did you have a great vacation?  Maybe your answer is NOT, but my answer is YES. I had a great vacation in Japan.
Three years ago, my parents took us to go to Japan. It’s my third time to take an airplane, but it’s the first time for my little brother and little sister. We felt nervous and excited on the plane. After three hours, we arrived in Japan.
Japan is very clean. It’s very different from Taiwan. In Taiwan, you always see garbage everywhere. Our hotel was very clean and comfortable. We had a nice night that day.
The next day, we went to Tokyo Disney Land where all the kids love.  It’s children’s paradise. I enjoyed a lot of attractions like “Micro Adventure”, “Star Jets”, “Space Mountain”, and “Peter Pan Flight”,etc. “Sapce Mountain” let me experience an exciting journey through space to the far reaches of the galaxy. It was so fantastic that I played it many times. “Micro Adventure” was a vivid movie and the audience need to wear special glasses. Can you believe? In the end of the movie, many mice in the screen ran out to us, and my feet really felt them! In the afternoon, we watched the famous Disney Land Parade.  There were many Disney characters singing and dancing. It was really bravo and special. At night, we watched beautiful fireworks. It was my first time to find that the sky can be so colorful like a beautiful paining.
In the rest days, we went to Hello Kitty Land and Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise. We had a lot of fun there, too.
Happy times always pass quickily. After five days’ trip, it was time to say goodbye to Japan. I was very happy during those few days. I thought it was an unforgettable trip and the best vacation for me.
Thank you for your listening. I hope you can have a wonderful vacation , too.
